WELCOME to Campus Royale presented by BallroomU!
It is our belief at BallroomU that absolutely everyone should feel comfortable enough to get out on that dance floor and have a great time. Our event will feel very similar to students that have attended competitions before. The dances they sign up for, the scores they receive per entry, top student awards, solo performances, scholarships, etc. There will be a few noticeable differences, however. When registering for the “Campus Royale” students will be placed on one of four teams. The teams will be accumulating points over the course of the weekend through competing as well as mini-games Friday evening. The winning team will be named the winners of the Campus Royale and have their names added to the MOXIE award! (Mastery Of Xpression, Innovation and Emotion) We are also excited to introduce the Dance Roulette. This is an event that involves multiple mystery dances.
Teams
When Registering for “The Campus Royale” competitors will be placed on one of the four teams
Team Dragon
Team Hawk
Team Shark
Team Wolverine

While competing over the weekend your scores will also be calculated for your team. For example: if there are 8 couples on the floor competing against one another the couple that placed 1st will receive 3 points. The couple that placed 2nd will receive 2 points & 3rd through 8th will all receive 1 point. If you are on the floor without competition you will receive 1 point. This is how most competitions calculate who will be named top student for their level. All of your teams points earned over the weekend will be pooled together to determine which team will win “The Moxie Award”! The winning team will have their team name and the year it was won added to the trophy.
There will also be opportunities to add bonus points for your team by participating in other events, such as the mixer games on Friday night after the conclusion of the club style dances. The purpose of this idea is to meet other dancers from other studios and make new friends that share your love for dancing
What’s New
We are excited to announce that the theme for Saturday Evening is Toga Party! Dress in your finest draped attire and join us for an unforgettable night of music, energy, and celebration.

The Dance Roulette is an exciting way to compete and challenge yourself. During this event the dances will be selected randomly while you are on the floor. You may compete with your instructor or as an amateur couple in one of three categories; Associate Bronze, Full Bronze or Silver and above. Although the dances will be selected randomly you will know what dances will be possible. As this competition will have both smooth and rhythm dances happening back to back, you will need attire that will work for both. This event is designed to be lead and follow, so anyone can participate (NO CHOREOGRAPHY) Here is a break-down of what to expect from each level.
Associate Bronze – In this level there will be two dances chosen (One Smooth & One Rhythm) from the following options;
Waltz, Tango Foxtrot & Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing
Full Bronze – In this level there will be four dances chosen (Two Smooth & Two Rhythm)
from the following options;
Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot & Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing
Silver & Above – In this level there will be four dances chosen (Two Smooth & Two Rhythm)
from the following options;
Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz & Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo, Samba
Again, there will not be time to change between smooth and rhythm so you will want to avoid wearing ball gowns or Latin dresses (Think club-wear) Here are some examples
